The conference is organised by The Cyprus Institute, the Cyprus University of Technology, and the Department of Economics of the University of Cyprus.

 

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a world-class, non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation. It is a regional Center of Excellence, addressing issues of regional interest but of global significance, with an emphasis on cross-disciplinary research and international collaborations. CyI is being developed as an international science and technology organization to strengthen the research community of Cyprus and to help transform its economy to a knowledge-based economy. Recognizing the unique geopolitical location of Cyprus, the Institute aspires to serve as a European Union gateway to research and technology in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East (EMME) and in this way, advance peace and prosperity and promote the cooperation among the peoples of the region. CyI's activities focus on climate, atmospheric, energy, and water research, computationsl science, science and technology in archaeology, and science-policy solutions.

 

 

 

The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is a public University that was founded in 2003 and is mainly located in the city Limassol. It has around 3000 students and offers undergraduate and postgradute degrees in seven Faculties. In its relatively short history, CUT earned international recognition as one of the top-ranked universities in Cyprus and Greece, incorporating sustainability in its strategic pillars while preparing its graduates for the challenges of the knowledge economy. CUT is constantly committed to promoting research excellence, connections with industry, and quality education and lifelong learning. It is one of the 8 institutions that form the European university alliance "Eut+ – European University of Technology".

 

 

 

The University of Cyprus is the oldest public University in Cyprus.It was established in 1989 and admitted its first students in 1992. It was founded in response to the growing intellectual needs of the Cypriot people, and is well placed to fulfil the numerous aspirations of the country. It aims to establish itself as a pioneering Research Institution achieving international scientific recognition in European Higher Education, offering competitive programmes and becoming a Centre of Excellence in the wider Euro – Mediterranean Region. The University is a vigorous community of scholars engaged in the generation and diffusion of knowledge. Despite its brief history, the University of Cyprus has earned the respect of the international academic community and the appreciation of Cypriot society. It is one of the 10 institutions that form the European university alliance "YUFE - Young Universities for the Future of Europe".
